Dear All,
I am looking for examples of new circulation/relaxation/orientation spaces
in museums and galleries (or in other buildings for that matter). I am
interested in architectural interventions in existing buildings that have
reclaimed unused or underutilised spaces and put them to new use.
Examples include: the Great Court at the British Museum; Neptune Court at
the National Maritime Museum; and the central atrium at the Burrell
Collection in Glasgow (technically not an intervention but a good example
of the sort of space I'm refering to). I'd particularly welcome examples of
smaller scale projects that have created new day-lit exhibition,
orientation or events spaces etc.
Any suggestions or examples would be extremely useful. If anyone has any
examples/suggestions (good or bad) can you please reply off list to

If you work in a museum with a good example and you have a picture or a
digital image that you could forward easily that would be very useful. If
you would like a copy of the list that I'm compiling please let me know and
I'll be happy to forward it you.
Thanks for your help.
