Miriam Jevikova, an aid worker for the Czech Organisation for Aid to Refugees
(OPU), has gone missing in Ingushetia, in the North Caucuses, close to
Chechnya. Miss Jevikova was visiting the area together with two other OPU
colleagues, and Martin Rozumek, the Director of OPU. Miss Jevikova went
missing on 1 June 2004 on the way to the border between North Ossetia and
Ingushetia. Her OPU colleagues had already returned to the Czech Republic,
though she had stayed behind to visit friends living in the troubled region.
Mr. Rozumek has asked for anyone with information that could help them to
locate Miss Jevikova to contact him in Prague at: tel. 420 2 2487 2141,

ECRE on behalf of its member agencies sincerely hopes for the speedy and safe
return of Miss Jevikova to her home in Prague.
