Data for my dissertation|Your University Application Letters/Essays
Dear all,
I am an MSc student in Applied Linguistics. For my dissertation I am
planning to analyse application letters/essays written by English native
speakers in support of their application for university admission. (These
letters/essays are also called statement of purpose, study plan, letter of
intent, motivation letter and personal statement.)
I understand that these documents may contain personal or confidential
information, so you are free to remove any identifying information if you
wish. I assure you that at no stage will I reveal anything private or
confidential. (The only personal information I shall need is your
nationality and native language.)
It is very difficult to collect data and I really need your help. If you
have kept a copy of this type of letter/essay and are willing to let me
use it, or if you have any queries, please contact me.
This is the second time I have sent out this request. Last time I didn't
make it sufficiently clear that this is a personal request from me, and of
course it is entirely up to you whether you are willing to help me out by
offering me this particular data (if you have it).

Many thanks,
Amy Hsiao
