This morning I received a Penaly Charge Notice from TfL alleging that I
drove in a London bus lane on Wednesday 27th October. I haven't been in
London for about 7 years and the last time I drove there was nearly 19
years ago. The vehicle pictured on the reverse of the PCN appears to be a
Renault Clio or Vauxhall Corsa or something like that - completely
different from the Citroen Berlingo which I drive. It is obvious that the
offending driver has put false plates on his/her car.
TfL has obtained my name and address from the DVLA but has not bothered to
check the type of vehicle to which the registration mark relates before
issuing the PCN. I reckon that by failing to undertake such a simple check
they have breached Principle 4. Am I right?
