State aids: Commission approves Italian tax breaks to SMEs 

investing in information technology projects   (14 October 2004)



The European Commission authorised today under the EU state aid rules the so-called Tecno-Tremonti Law in favour of small and medium enterprises investing in projects in the field of information technology. The scheme will be in force until the end of the current year with an estimated budget of € 208 million.

The EC-Bridge conference on "Research Networks, Advanced Networks and Broadband Solutions", funded by the European Commission, is an international co-operation event addressing the European and Chinese visions on future eInfrastructures, Research Networks and Advanced Applications. The conference benefits from the active support of the European Commission and the Chinese Government. Participation is free. The conference programme provides a mix of plenary presentations and parallel sessions on the following themes: Network Infrastructures; Middleware; IPv6; Network Security; Broadband + Wireless Access; Grids and shared resources; Joint Collaborations; Participation in EC programmes. A recently conducted Trends Mapping Study will be presented. International Workshop on Autonomic Communication

The First International workshop on Autonomic Communication will have as its main theme Autonomic Communication Principles; the objective is to explore synergies between related research initiatives and recent achievements within many disciplines in an attempt to highlight insights from self-organisation, bio-inspired, non-Turing computing/communication paradigms, advances in control theory, complex systems research, non-linearity, etc. helping to enable the design creativity that will fuel the next round of the Internet evolution.

A call for proposals on Situated and Autonomic Communications is planned under the 4th IST call of the IST research programme, currently foreseen to be launched in November 2004.

public procurement in the ICT domain

Public procurement policy and practice for accessible ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) has the potential to play a vital role in removing barriers to participation in the Information Society by disabled or older people. This workshop will adress the harmonisation of eAccessibility requirements to be used in the public procurement of ICT products and services and the requirements for policy implementation in this field.
