No they don't. Perhaps you might prefer a style that explicitly
specifies the SAVE attribute, but they do not *need* it.
1. They already have the SAVE attribute. Initialization implicitly
confers it. Again, you may prefer a style that makes it explicit,
but that is a question of style choice - not a requirement of the
standard.
2. It is irrelevant to this code anyway because the module never becomes
unused (since it is used in the main program).
