Dear all,
I am trying to calculate vehiclekilometers in order to estimate the risk of two specific vulnerable user categories (two-wheel vehicles and young drivers). We have collected data from a field study that took place in Greece in the form of a questionnaire.
We have the following questions from which we can extract data:
1)How many km did you drive yesterday (weekday), in total? (=A1)
2) How many km did you drive last weekend, in total? (=A2)
3) How many km did you drive the past 3 months on the highway (this was to include trips during holiday seasons)? (=A3)
My question is how do we calculate vehicle kilometers, using the above data. The first answer would be: (number of weekdays per year)x(A1) + (number of weekends per year)x(A2) + 4*(A3). However, this seems to be an overestimation of the actual value. Are you aware of any other methods or any possible coefficient factors that are used in order to provide a more valid estimation?
Thank you in advance for your help.
