Peter,
Even though this is outside the UK, I'm sending info on our course. We
usually have a large international group of registrants. Applications are
still being accepted for this year's course.

Summer Course at MIT
Modeling and Simulation for Intelligent Transportation Systems: August 2 -
6, 2004.
Microsimulation and dynamic traffic assignment are becoming common tools
for a wide variety of transportation analyses. This one-week program covers
in depth the traffic simulation and assignment models used to design,
evaluate and operate traffic systems. Course curriculum draws heavily on
the results of recent research and case studies. Participants learn about
the theory and applications of modeling and simulation methods, and study
practical issues of applications, such as traveler information systems,
real-time traffic estimation and prediction, VMS, traffic control, bus
priority, ramp metering, incident detection and response, HOV, road
pricing, work zones, construction staging, calibration of traffic
simulators, etc. The program also includes demonstrations of traffic
simulation software.
Moshe Ben-Akiva, Professor and Director of the MIT ITS Laboratory, is the
lecturer-in-charge. Guest lecturers have included Professors Ennio
Cascetta (University of Naples, Minister of Transportation for Regione
Campania, Italy); Michael Florian (University of Montreal); Haris
Koutsopoulos (Northeastern University); and Hani Mahmassani (University of
Maryland).
