Dear All
The Clear Zones Conference is nearly upon us and as the Ministerial
opening of the Nottingham trams will be happening on the 8th March (open
to the public on the 9th) the trams will be running in time for the
Conference. This means that in addition to the Conference there is an
opportunity to see the Nottingham trams in action, and even take a ride!
There are still spaces available on the Conference, the details of which
are displayed under. Should you be interested in attending please
download the booking form and fax it to me. Also please contact me
should you require any further information.
Regards,
Valerie Styles

CLEAR ZONES 5TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE
'From Vision To Reality'
Nottingham Council House
Thursday 11th March, 2004
This year's 1 day conference looks at the practical aspects of
developing and implementing Clear Zones, and the highs and lows of
implementing Clear Zones on the ground, based on the experiences of the
'Trailblazer' pilot sites which are at the forefront of implementing
innovative transport policies. Key questions to be explored during the
conference include:
* How do the CZ policies work within the wider agenda?
* What benefits do they bring, particularly to the local economy?
* What problems do they pose?
* How might these be overcome?
* What are the political risks and how has strong leadership
overcome
these?
The Conference is aimed at:
* Local Authority officers interested in transport planning,
environmental issues and economic regeneration;
* Local politicians wishing to hear from other UK authorities
about
the challenges of implementing often difficult transport
policies;
* Consultants and researchers wanting to learn about implementing
new
schemes from first-hand practical experience; and
* Retail organisations exploring the opportunities offered by
innovative transport schemes.
