Museum Assistant (6 month contract)
Starting Salary: £17,166 to £19,186 pa (pro rata) Location: Central London
The Society requires a Museum Assistant to join their small and friendly specialist museum. Due to limited accessibility to on-site displays, the museum's major focus is the development of education and outreach work. The museum is also working hard to improve their collection's management and documentation.
The post involves working to assist the Keeper in all areas of the museum's work including answering a wide variety of enquiries, working on our documentation backlog, attaining a high standard of collections care, putting outreach events together, and developing exhibitions.
The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic team player with a degree in an appropriate subject, and have at least one year's experience of working in a museum. A good practical understanding of museum documentation procedures would be an advantage, as would some experience of answering public enquiries.
