There are still places available on the above event, which is being held at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston on 19 May as part of the 2004 Supporting Sustainable e-Learning Forum (SSeLF).
Many institutions are implementing new learning technology systems to support seamless and ubiquitous access to lifelong learning facilities at home, at work, in schools, colleges and universities. However, the design and implementation of these systems remains unclear.
Rob Koper, from the Open University of the Netherlands, will present ideas on a conceptual framework to support lifelong learning. A pilot implementation in a peer-to-peer groupware system (Groove) has been developed and this presentation will highlight the outcomes of evaluation studies with this system.
Chris Jones from Lancaster University will look at issues of design in relation to how students conceive tasks that are set by tutors in online environments and how these set tasks might relate to students' activities.
Allison Littlejohn of the University of Strathclyde will outline issues in using digital repositories and shared workspaces with Engineering Design students.
