*Project Description*
This research examines the impact of digital information resources on the
role of research library collection managers in 5 English-speaking
countries: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the
United States. Data was gathered in 4 focus group sessions in late 2001
and early 2002, and in an online web survey conducted in February/March
2003.
*Survey Findings*
The study found that while the actual responsibilities of respondents
varied, the levels of responsibility and time spent on activities related
to digital resources have generally increased compared to five years ago
and those for non-digital resources either have increased marginally,
stayed the same or gone down. Strong increases in consortia related work
featured prominently in the survey
*Publication Information*
This report was submitted in March 2003 to Library, Collections,
Acquisitions and Technical Services for consideration for publication. The
research project received support in the form of the LCATS Research Award
for 2001 and a grant from the Faculty of Commerce and Administration at
Victoria University of Wellington.
