Dear colleagues
This is probably only relevant to those of you in or near London, but
if you are visiting London next Thursday 25 November, come to NERC's
Council meeting that is open to the public.
Public engagement is at the top of the agenda at the moment. As part of
NERC's openess and transparency approach we are opening one of our
Council meetings to the public each year. Do join us to see how this
works - you get a chance to give your views and ask questions in the
open forum after the Council meeting.
The agenda for this meeting includes the 'greening' of NERC and a
review of our public engagement activities. We have decided to monitor
the impact our science, staff and facilities have on the environment and
take steps to reduce our environmental footprint. How will we take this
forward? And are we doing enough to engage with members of the public to
find out what environmental issues concern them?
Do make your colleagues aware of the meeting - all are welcome. It
will be held on Thursday 25 November at the Copthorne Tara Hotel,
Kensington, London. It starts at 9.30am and runs until 12.30pm when the
meeting is thrown open for discussion with the audience. Even if you
can't make the whole meeting you are welcome to come along to the open
forum.
We're providing a light buffet at 1.30pm so if you would like to
attend it would be helpful if you could reply to this email with an
indication of numbers so that we can organize the catering
arrangements.
We look forward to seeing you. More info at
