Powers of 10 - The Florida State University has created an amazing
applet that takes you on a journey from the scale of galaxies - viewing
the Milky Way from 10 million light years away from Earth - to the
scale of every day - a leaf on an oak tree - all the way down to
viewing the subatomic particles inside the leaf itself.

Christine Ladd-Franklin - Born 1 Dec 1847 Connecticut, Died 5 March
1930 New York. Despite living in a time when women were actively
denied access to academia - she completed the equivalent of a
doctorate at John Hopkins University in 1883 but her name was not
recorded on the list of students, and it wasn't until 1926 that the
university presented her with a PhD for her work - Ladd-Franklin
managed to make significant contributions to both mathematics and
experimental psychology.
