Hi all,
In respect of those many of us who'd like to see other topics discussed on
this list, I will limit myself to this one single post, but I've just *got*
to say this.
It has seemed to me all along that:
* Ken did not conduct research
* in any event, phd-design is not a medium for conducting research
* phd-design is a medium for *discussing* research and generally having
deep, heady thoughts about design
* Ken used the Cindy avatar as a mechanism to discuss issues of relevance
to the list in a sincere and well-intentioned manner
* the only trust issue in a virtual environment like this list is that we
must really learn to trust that the intent of someone's contribution is not
malevolent or directly intended to cause harm, not just what their physical
identity is
* so I really don't see what all the fuss is about.
Finally, if I were to suggest anything for the future of the list, I'd
suggest that members wanting to experiment in unconventional ways discuss
the matter off-list with the list owners. The owners might then consider
the matter too controvertial (tho I can't really think of something too
controvertial for *this* list) and advise its proponent against pursuing
it. Or they might simply monitor activity to ensure nothing unsuitable is
happening as a result. Or whatever else they like.
Just my 2 final cents on the matter.
Cheers.
