We have had several individuals requesting and GP's suggesting that they
require a desk top humidifiers...however when they are reviewed they are not
using them, or forgot to fill them with water etc.....

Subject: Humidifiers
Does anyone advise desktop humidifiers for asthmatics in open plan
offices? Any evidence that they do any good? Are mold spores likely to
develop and create additional risks if not properly maintained? Would
anyone advise de-humidifiers? Some of the buildings have air conditioning
some do not. I am looking for evidence to support my hypothesis that they
are no use - if you can point me towards it. The Asthma Society lean
towards de-humidifiers if the asthma is triggered by dust but not sure
about need for that either in open plan office. (I have recommended
environmental humidity checks.)
many thanks
