We have a phased return/rehab scheme. Each case is individually assessed for
hours worked and suitability to return to their employment or redeployed on
temp basis to another area. Generally reviewed weekly. These returns are
usually generated and managed from OH inconjunction with GP. The employee is
paid for the hours they work and Company sick pay for the hours they don't
work. Which means they don't loss any money (except lost time counts against
them in profit share) They do drop financially if they are no longer
entitled to Company sick pay which is related to length of service. We do
have a Trust who although will not make up Wages will help to a set amount
weekly. Plus the Union, if they are members, will give some financial
support.

Subject: Phased return to work
Does anyone have a policy or procedure about phased return to work
following sickness absence or know of any research about this subject. I
am trying to gather information or evidence about what other employers do.
Is the employee paid for the shifts they do not work or do they have to
take annual leave to cover the days they are absent from work.
Any suggestions or information would be graefully received.
