>Subject: Call for proposals - New Media Artist & Curator Joint Residency
> at Isis Arts
>From: Michelle Hirschhorn <[log in to unmask]>
>To: Michelle Hirschhorn <[log in to unmask]>

>Please circulate as appropriate
>
>New Media Artist & Curator in Residence together at Isis Arts,
>Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK
>
>
>Isis Arts is seeking proposals from an Artist/Curator team working
>with New Media to undertake a short residency at Isis Arts between
>10 January and 8 March 2005.
>
>The deadline for submissions is 31 October and interviews will be
>held at Isis Arts on 11 November.
>
>By placing an Artist and a Curator in residence together, we aim to
>provide both with a focused period of time to further develop a
>project that may already be in development, part of a larger project
>or something new - this could be an exhibition, commission, public
>artwork, website, event, etc. which demonstrates an inspired
>approach to new media art. This experimental collaborative tactic
>seeks to expand the artist in residence model by viewing
>professional critical engagement as a valuable and mutually
>beneficial aspect of the creative process, thus enabling new
>possibilities to arise across a wider number of contexts.
>
>Artist & Curator teams are invited to submit a joint proposal
>outlining the project or area of research that they would undertake
>during the residency. Isis Arts is particularly interested in
>fostering new relationships and partnerships, and is thus open to
>the possibility of future collaboration in the realisation of the
>project.
>
>The residency is designed to prioritise process and experimentation.
>However whilst there is no required product-based outcome,
>applicants would be expected to demonstrate how the residency would
>benefit their project in real terms. In other words, how would the
>time spent together and the technical resources available at Isis
>Arts add value to the project? What are the anticipated outcomes?
>Applicants are also requested to explain why they are interested in
>working with Isis Arts and how their project might compliment or
>extend the work currently being carried out by Isis Arts.
>
>
>Fees
>
>
>The Artist and Curator will each receive a fee of UKP 2000 and will
>be expected to work a minimum of 10 days together at Isis Arts
>within the 8 week period. However a workspace and use of the
>facility will be available to them on a full time basis, if needed.
>
>There is a budget of UKP 500 for travel and accommodation, to be
>used as needed if one of the team is based outside of the North East.
>
>There is also a small budget of UKP 300 for materials. Technical
>support will be available on a part time basis and broadband is
>provided. Please see the Isis Arts website for information about
>platforms, software and equipment available at Isis.
>
>
>
>Eligibility
>
>
>Open to professional artists and curators who are working
>imaginatively with new media. Students are not eligible.
>
>At least one of the team must be based within the North East region
>(Tyne & Wear, County Durham, Tees Valley and Northumberland),

>
>
>
