CASPuk Training Week 2004
In association with the CASP International Network

Dates: 12th - 16th July 2004
Venue: Linton Lodge Hotel, Oxford, UK

Each year CASP runs a Training Week that is attended and enjoyed by health
care professionals from the across the UK and around the world. Trainers
from the CASP International Network will enhance the learning opportunities
with their experience of evidence-based practice around the world.

~Aim~

By the end of this course, participants will be able to critically appraise
research evidence and to facilitate effective critical appraisal skills
training.

~Objectives~

Opportunities will be provided for participants to:
- Enhance understanding of using evidence-based practice in health and
social care
- Develop skills in appraising quantitative or qualitative research
literature
- Develop facilitation skills for critical appraisal workshops
- Develop mechanisms in supporting the dissemination of appraisal training
- Enhance understanding of obstacles to change and ways of managing change.

~Programme~

The programme is built around the core principles of evidence-based
practice. Participants are asked to choose from one of the following study
tracks: quantitative pathway or qualitative pathway. Participants will
focus on their chosen strand of research literature as they progress
through the critical appraisal process - from finding the evidence to
managing change in the workplace. However, a brief introductory session to
the other strand is also included. Full programme details can be found on
our web site (www.phru.nhs.uk/learning). If you require further
information about the programme, please contact me at the details below.

~Course Fees~

Course fees: £950 (GBP)
This also includes a comprehensive study pack, lunch every day and a
farewell evening dinner at the Cherwell Boathouse
(www.cherwellboathouse.co.uk).

~Accommodation~

The week will be held at Linton Lodge Hotel, Oxford. Accommodation will be
available for delegates at a rate of £300 (GBP) for the week. This would
be on a bed & breakfast basis. The hotel is about 15-20 minute walk from
the centre of Oxford and there are good, regular bus links as well.
Further information about the hotel can be found at (www.lintonlodge.com)
