Dear List Members
Here at Tate, we're aiming to develop practical guidelines and standards
for running public access digital multimedia installations across our
main display sites. Before we rush off to invent a Tate-shaped wheel, I
thought it would be a good idea to ask if any of you have experience or
documentation you could share with us or refer us to that would be of
use in our quest. Here's the sort of information that would be of
particular interest:
1. Planning for gallery based installations:
Guidance for curators and exhibition designers in planning for digital
MM installations - What technical, physical and environmental questions
need answering; what issues of accessibility should be addressed; issues
affecting interface design
2. Operation & Maintenance
Who is responsible for the ongoing operation of MM installations; what
skills are needed; what backup is needed for covering breakdowns and
other incidents
3. Standards
How are design standards used for both physical presence or interface
look and feel.
I hope this conveys the level of information we're keen to find. Many
thanks in advance for any responses!
