I agree we should be monitoring what the gvt is holding about us, but will the government be consulting us and at what level?

I did not say this would happen - simply that once we have an
intelligent card carrying biometric details, it COULD also carry other
information that would, for example, allow it also to become a passport
and/or a driving licence. Or anything else.
It is in the light of these possibilities that we, as information
professionals and as CILIP, need to monitor what is happening with ID
Cards and the National Identity Register, in order to lobby government
as necessary.
