Is any knowledgeable LIS-MEDICAL member able to direct me to the original
citation of this quote/aphorism by the ancient Greek Physician
Hippocrates?
“Keep a watch also on the faults of the patients, which often make them
lie about the taking of things prescribed. For through not taking
disagreeable drinks, purgative or other, they sometimes die. What they
have done never results in a confession, but the blame is thrown upon the
physician”
I am aware it has been used in various publications on patient adherence
including Haynes 1979 book “Compliance in health Care”. Unfortunately,
none of the publications I have seen state from which of Hippocrates many
works it was taken from.
Perhaps somebody could let me know off-list unless there is a group desire
to know from where it came?
With thanks in anticipation.
