The web is now a vital channel for the communication of information. Whilst
creating a simple web page is relatively easy, building an effective web
site and promoting, managing and developing that web site over time are
complex, novel activities, which few have expertise in.
This short course, delivered over one day, will give participants hands-on
experience in these vital areas. Based on the content of the M.Sc programme
for Information and Library Studies, the course aims to build on
participants’ existing experience with deploying web technologies. The
course leader will be Alan Poulter, author of several books on the Internet
and web searching for library professionals. Currently a lecturer in the
Graduate School, he teaches in the areas of ICT skills, web design, XML and
information strategy. Areas covered:
* Techniques for successful web design
