Journal Development
Wednesday 20 October 2004 - Level 2
Tutors:
Andrew Wray, Senior Publisher, IoP Publishing Ltd
Rosie Grimes, Professional Engineering Publishing
Venue:
The King's Fund, 11-13 Cavendish Square, London W1G 0AN
Course Overview
This course goes beyond basic journal management to examine the strategy
for individual journals. Each journal has a market that supplies it with
articles and a market of customers and users. These markets change over
time and the journal needs to change and develop with them. Journals are
living entities that can die if they are not fed good quality copy.
Unfortunately, the decline in health tends to be slow and hard to
reverse – where is the copy going to come from? How do you ensure that
the journal is going in the right direction? This course will provide
insight into the process and give you the tools with which to judge what
stage your journals are at and how to develop them.
