Hello Andy,
Thank you for your postings. As it happens, your comments are quite
timely – HighWire Press has been actively developing an enhanced version
of our Athens support which we expect to make available this summer. BMJ-
PG is planning to switch to this much improved service, which will indeed
allow Athens access on a per-title basis (and therefore usage reporting at
the individual journal level).
We will be releasing additional details of the upgraded system as launch
time approaches.
Best regards,
Helen

of the importance of ATHENS authentication within the UK and Europe - a
fact I have brought to their attention ever since we had been dealing with
BMJ journals within the KA24 service. When visiting their stand a few
years ago at Online, no one really took this problem that seriously
passing me back to BMJ. To BMJ's credit I think they have been pointing
out that ATHENS users do not receive adequate journal usage statistics
because Highwire haven't done development on their side, but I now
understand that this is changing. If SAGE can also point out that there
are a lot of their users accessing Sage journals via Athens - thus
requiring accurate usage statistics through this entrance point - then
this can only be better!
