Dear Mr. Long:
In the United States, JBJS-BrV is sold to institutional subscribers as a
combined subscription with the American volume. The AmV is hosted by
HighWire Press and BrV is hosted by Ingenta. As far as I can tell, there
is no link from the HighWire site to the BrV on Ingenta.
This year, Ingenta turned off our institution's online access. If it
wasn't for a patron complaint, I would have not called Ingenta to fix the
problem. (Thus, the reason for low online statistics). My subscription
agent, EBSCO, tells me there are two publisher identification (pub ID)
numbers for our institution to activate online access. One for HighWire
and the other for Ingenta. Possibly this is where the confusion begins
amongst the third party platforms?
In my opinion, both journals should be on the same platform; either Ingenta
or Highwire Press. If that is not possible, at least corresponding links
to each other's web site is helpful. Furthermore, EBSCOHost offers access
to the full text of the AmV only. Thus, those libraries who are dependant
on full text access from the EBSCO databases are missing the online content
of the BrV. You may want to consider where the content of the AmV is
available online, and make arrangements to deposit the content of the BrV
there too.
I hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Liz Lorbeer

Dear Colleagues,
Only a small percentage of our institutional subscribers have registered
for
online access to the full-text of the British volume of The Journal of Bone
and Joint Surgery, which is free with the print subscription. I find this
very surprising and am hoping that you can suggest why this is?
If you are not aware of the availability of the JBJS online you can find
the
British Volume at www.jbjs.org.uk; it is hosted by Ingenta.
You can access the full-text through the Ingenta website (www.ingenta.com)
or
through the JBJS website (www.jbjs.org.uk).
Any feedback, comments, or requests for more information can be addressed
