Apologies to all five of you who've already responded to this! In the hope of eliciting a better cross-section of opinion I'm sending this questionnaire out again. Please take the time to reply, particularly if you have anything to saythat might improve the accreditatioin process. Many thanks.
Accreditation - how was it for you?
Preamble. The Lihnn Coordinating Committee is keen to discover members' experiences of, and feelings about, the accreditation process in order that we can make suggestions to HCLU that will benefit future accreditations. Your responses to this short questionnaire will be used to inform our comments. We will treat all responses anonymously, but please bear in mind that individual anecdotes may strike a chord with HCLU officers as well as librarians.
1 How long - in librarian hours - did it take you to prepare your responses and assemble your evidence folder?
2 How long did you have between receiving the evidence folder and having to return the completed folder to HCLU? Do you think this gave you an adequate amount of time to prepare your responses?
3 Did you have to do any extra work before you could write a response, or provide evidence for any of the criteria? Do you think that this work has improved the quality of your library service?
4 Did you invite a fellow librarian to help you self-assess your own responses? If so, how did you decide who to ask, and how helpful did you find their comments?
5 How closely did the results of your own self-assessment match that of the HCLU team?
6 How much support did you receive from other members of your organisation, both in terms of preparing your response, and in making themselves available to meet with the accreditation team?
7 How did the discussion between yourself and the accreditation team feel? In what ways, if any, do you feel that your relationship with HCLU has altered as a result of your accreditation?
8 Do you feel that the final accreditation rating and report give a fair picture of your library, and the work that you do?
9 Do you think that the final accreditation rating and report will help you to raise the status of library services within your organisation, and attract better funding?
