Subject: Dyslexia staff development sessions
Dear Caroline and colleagues,
The DEMOS project developed an excellent on-line learning package that
includes dyslexia awareness:
http://jarmin.com/demos/
At an ILTHE conference I did the session in a group of three. One of the
others in their group who had a dyslexic child and they said it really
helped
visualise what their child was tring to tell them dyslexia was like.

Subject: Re: Interactive Study Advice Materials
Dear Caroline,
Many thanks for the address of the interactive site.
With regards to dyslexia, there is a site which deals with supporting
language learners with dyslexia:
http://www.hull.ac.uk/languages/current/olc/dyslexia_guidelines_tutors.html
Although the guidelines are aimed specifically at tutors / material
designers
who are supporting language learners, many of the suggestions made apply to
learning in general. It might prove a useful starting point.
I have also discoverd that our Disability Services are currently working on
a
Dyslexia Support Network site which might be a fruitful source of
information
once it is completed. The expected date for completion is some time next
month.
In addition, it might be worth contacting the University of Bangor as they
have a unit which has carried our extensive research in the field of
dyslexia.
Hope some of the above may be of assistance.
Kind regards,
Judy
