Dear Colleagues,
In a recent batch of donations were 10 issues of 'Music in Sweden' from the
years 1980 - 86, a dozen or so substantial pamphlets on swedish music
(contemporary and folk) and what might be a volume of conference proceedings -
'Svenska music perspektiv' with summaries in English. Minnesskrift vid Kungl.
Musikaliska Akademiens 200-arsjubileum 1971 under redaktion av Gustav
Hillestrom: Nordiska Musikforlager (sorry, no diacritics)
If any library has a special interest in this subject area and would like any
or all of these (or more information) please contact me by the end of August and
I will gladly pass them on.
My next question. I have here a set of LPs which may ring a bell with some of
you out there; it's a set of 9 blue 'volumes' each consisting of a casing for a
dozen folders each holding an LP. The series is 'The History of Music in Sound
and is issued by The Gramophone Company Ltd., Hayes, Middlesex. I'm not sure of
the date but they must be at least 30 years old. Each volume covers a different
period or genre; e.g. volume 3 covers 'Ars Nova and the Rennaissance'. The set
must have been a massive undertaking and look really interesting but they are SO
very large and heavy and awkward to handle that I'm thinking of getting rid of
them. Before I do so I just wanted to ask whether anyone has an opinion on this
- are they something I should be keeping? I'd really appreciate advice on
this.
Many thanks,
Gill (jones)
