Colleagues,
The UK Council of Health Informatics Professions (UKCHIP) was
formed in 2002 to promote professionalism in Health
Informatics. It operates a voluntary registration scheme for
health informatics professionals who agree to work to clearly
defined standards. Initial registration is voluntary, but it
is expected that in the future, bodies such as the NHS will
expect anyone working in health informatics to be
registered.
Eventually it is envisaged that statutory registration will
be introduced to protect the interests of the public.
National registration for health informatics professionals
will help to improve quality and safety in patient care, will
strengthen the information governance environment, and
hopefully prevent high profile failings where bad informatics
has damaged or even killed patients.
Frequently Asked Questions about UKCHIP have recently been
added the the HLG Website. Click here to see them:

I represent HLG on the UKCHIP Shadow Council, so should you
require more information please do not hesitate to get in
