Geodiversity Assistant
Ipswich Museum Service is looking for a Geodiversity Officer to
promote and facilitate the conservation, access and interpretation of
geological and geomorphological features, exposures and collected material.
Duties will include;
* Reviewing and selecting suitable available sites and
collections and progressing their development and protection for public use.
* Conserving sites through assisting in the
notification process and facilitating clearance for conservation.
* Reviewing available sites and collections and
selecting suitable sites and materials for public access and interpretation
* Publicising the availability of sites, devising and
organising interpretation material such as information boards, leaflets,
displays and linking into other environmental projects.
* Carrying out research for a display on Suffolk
geology.
* Developing close working relationships with the
local aggregates industry in order to promote geological conservation within
companies and to influence their environmental policies and working plans.
This temporary post is funded through Defra's Aggregates Levy
Sustainability Fund Grant Scheme as administered through English Nature.
This short term post will be based at Ipswich Museums Service until March
2005. Salary Ipswich Borough Council grade 8: £20,595 Hours; 9-5pm.
A knowledge of the geology of Suffolk or Pleistocene geology is
essential. Driving license required. Post would suit recent graduate.
