Yes, I tried the binary download and it worked.
But I still got the same problem when I compiled the source under
/src/fast/ and execute fsl/src/fast/fast.exe xxx_brain.hdr.
I have 512MB RAM on my machine. Is it enough?

Hi - the most likely cause of this is that you don't have enough RAM on your
machine. Also, did you try the binary Cygwin download?
