Sphere reading materials on FMO
The aim of the Sphere Project is to improve the quality of assistance provided
to people affected by disasters, and to enhance the accountability of the
humanitarian system in disaster response. The revised edition of the Sphere
handbook, Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Disaster Response
(http://www.sphereproject.org/handbook/index.htm), was launched on October 30,
2003.
In collaboration with the Sphere Project, FMO has made most of the references
and reading materials in the handbook's bibliographies accessible online in
full text. Some of these documents have been made available in PDF on this
website; for others we provide a direct hyperlink to where the document is
available elsewhere online. For the remainder we have been unable to obtain
permission from the copyright holder to make them available online, and so
have simply provided a traditional bibliographic reference.
The bibliographies are structured in the same way as they are in the handbook
and are divided into the following categories: Common Standards,
Water/Sanitation, Food, Shelter, Health.
Please visit http://www.forcedmigration.org/sphere/default.htm to access these
materials.
The Sphere pages on FMO have been launched in conjunction with
shelterproject.org's 2004 trial guidelines on "Transitional settlement:
displaced populations." For more information, visit
