(Note: Despite the deadlines indicated below, COMPAS is still looking for a
few more people to assist with their research project.)
Research assistants wanted: 2 days at £8 per hour.
The new Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS) at Oxford University
is carrying out a research project that involves interviews with non-EU
migrant workers who are currently employed in the UK - with regular or
irregular status.
We are now looking for UK-based research assistants from Ukraine, Poland,
Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Bangladesh to help us explore the
potential modes of accessing/contacting migrant workers from these countries.
The specific tasks to be carried out include:
1.. searching the internet, newspapers, etc. for ethnic community and other
organisations and individuals with contacts to migrant workers from Ukraine,
Poland, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Bangladesh
2.. contacting (mostly over the phone or email) the identified
organisations/individuals to explore possibilities for helping us get in
contact with migrant workers
3.. provide a brief written summary with a list of the identified
institutions/individuals and their willingness to cooperate with us on this
research project
We anticipate that it will take 2 days to complete the above tasks.
Remuneration: £8 per hour. All expenses (phone etc.) will be covered by
COMPAS.
The work would need to be carried out in the week of Feb 2-6.
