Dear Rod and others,
Peter van der Beek just sent me the quote from a French company (thanks,
Peter!). They would charge 497.75 Euro per kilo (excl. VAT). With that in
mind, the Dupont offer (either 157 of 212 Euro, incl. VAT) suddenly seems
cheap, so even if we donīt reach the 50 kg goal (which seems highly
probable), I would still go for their offer.
The following orders have been made so far:
Peter van der Beek, Grenoble: 2 kg
Luis Barbero, Cadiz: 2 sqm (approx. 2 kg)
Bernhard Fuegenschuh, Basel: 2 sqm (approx. 2 kg)
Marc Jolivet, Montpellier: 3 sheets (2 to 3 kg?)
Max Zattin, Bologna: few sheets (1 to 2 kg?)
Maria-Laura Balestrieri, Florence: one sheet (1 kg?)
Sandeep Singh, Kurukshetva: 1 to 2 kg?
John Garver, Union College: 1 to 5 kg
Istvan Dunkl, Goettingen: 2 to 3 kg?
Cornelia Spiegel, Tuebingen: 3 kg
Rod Brown, Glasgow: 2 to 3 kg?
Some questions:
(1) As you can see from the list, our joint order will be above 10 kg but
below 50 kg, which means, we will have to pay 212 Euro per kilo. Is
everyone of the above listed people happy with that price?
(2) For the calculation above, I equaled "one sheet" with one kilo. Please
let me know if this is ok with you (just as a reminder: 1 square meter is
approx. 0.9 kg)
(3) I would be happy to order soon, so if you know of any colleagues which
are not included in the list but may be interested in ordering Teflon,
please let them know about our joint order.
