> I agree that the acceptance of the 'fact' of global warming has become, to
some, a tenet of faith, but the science behind the Pentagon report is pretty
solid. Now it's beginning to look like failure to accept the 'fact' of
global warming may be the more religious stance.

Yes. The contrarian's main argument is based on money, and in God We Trust.
I was impressed recently by an idea myself about the myth of the modern
nation state. I think this is one source of error. If in fact modern nations
were to live up to their constitutional beliefs, then these nations would
all be working within the United Nations, reaching consensus easily and
working for the improvement in the quality of the environment.
However one important nation appears to be leaving it's avowed national
constitution, maybe two nations. If man was the forum of reality, then man
would have to reach consensu, no? Nations don't participate equally in
consensing, and seem to be the root cause of aggravated assaults on nature
and civilians.
Those who infuriate have been infuriated themselves at some early
developmental stage, suggesting a deep source of alienation from true social
reality. That reality of course is 'constructed' but it has it's utility and
application, but not necessarily when large corporations rule the world,
like Walmart.
