Hello
Apologies for the circular nature of this email.
Can you offer some suggestions as to how I might deal with the
following please?
I am involved in some rather un-scientific research on the theme of IT
training and IT courses. I am trying to identify whether we have
reached a plateau in the demand for 'basic' IT skills - e.g. ECDL,
CLAIT and so forth and whether or not people have started thinking
about the 'the next stage' of IT skills that they might need. I am
looking mainly at FE and ACL provision by the way, but am interested in
what is happening in all sectors.
I know that some people feel that we should be looking at different
levels of applying these IT skills - either for leisure (for example,
digital photography) or more vocational - commercially accredited
training (Microsoft, CISCO etc.).
What's your view - are we done with basic IT training, or will demand
for ECDL/CLAIT continue? Or if it is dying away, what do you think
people might need next? Or indeed will they need anything at all?
Your opinion is much appreciated - I am quite happy to hear of
anecdotal evidence/personal opinion - as I mentioned above, this is
very unscientific.
Look forward to hearing from you - please email me directly
