In response to Pauline's reply to the Notetaker request I would agree that
it can be difficult to find an appropriately qualified Notetaker but I
would question her comment that 'not all students really need a qualified
notetaker'.
Notetaking is a considerable skill which requires training and practice,
even if, in reality the training can cover only basic principles of
notetaking and disability equality. It is not something that everyone, even
if they are a postgraduate and familiar with the subject area - is suitable
for.
The University of Bristol has been training Notetakers in the CACDP Level 2
Certificate for several years now - hopefully as the numbers grow, students
and others will receive the professional service they are entitled to.
