I had noticed the report was missing from the EU site, but did not know
about the EU Council of Minister meeting to discuss this issue. Given that
most human rights were once politically conceived I suppose it should not be
a surprise if they are changed to enable more control.
A pity that DP and privacy issues should be the cause, but considering the
urge for supremacy which exists in much of human nature, and is evident in
many DP issues, the bully boy syndrome exercised in this way may make a
noteworthy item. Interesting to me from an 'organisational privacy'
perspective though, in what controlled rebalancing is brought about.
This could of course be seen to widen the scope of many exemptions
considerably. I have still not found any CoP or details of the workings of
political exemptions, so must assume their scope will be lengthened as well.
(Would all of those changes classify as a form of function creep?)
