Hi All
Yet another one.............member of the public attends CC - lives alone, is a keyholder for post office and lives alone. Minutes are published - her name and address appear in them. She has requested secretary to refrain from printing her name and address on several occasions. Person writing the minutes refuses and says they will print it unless she can come up with some legal reason to prevent them from so doing.
As far as I am concerned, consent has not been given - apart from anything else, they only knew where she lived originally and only her first name appeared in the Minutes. Since that first meeting they managed to find out her full name from her employment as she had to have a meeting with one of the Councillors - remember we live in a very small community up here so it is not hard to find out where people live etc.
She has now asked on several occasions and she now wants to make a point of this issue.
Can anyone help:
1. The meeting is obviously a public meeting but I still think as she is attending as a member of the public that she has a right to object to her address being printed.
2. We don't know who the Minutes are being circulated to and they could be lying on someone's floor and visitors to house etc. - disclosure to whoever.............without consent...
3. She will obviously have recourse to the OIC.......
Your views as always will be appreciated............................
