In addition to the Copyright evening workshops, Aslib has added another
two, taking place at its offices in London:
Freedom of Information- 8 July 2004 (www.aslib.com/training/4/22.html)
This session is aimed primarily at staff working in public sector bodies
and agencies who want to get a quick overview of the main provisions of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000. It is also relevant to anyone wanting to
know what their rights are under the Act and how to assert them; and for
people in the private sector who are curious to know what implications
Freedom of Information has for business.
Data Protection- 28 September 2004 (www.aslib.com/training/4/23.html)
This session is for anyone wanting a brief overview of the main provisions
of the Data Protection Act 1998. It will consider what the implications of
the legislation are for them, both in terms of their work and also with
regard to protecting their own personal data. The course will also draw
attention to areas which need to be considered when drawing up a policy in
order to stay within the law.
