BRITISH SOCIETY OF CRIMINOLOGY CONFERENCE (6th – 9th July 2004)
Hosted by the Institute of Criminal Justice Studies, University of
Portsmouth
Conference Theme: Criminology, Governance and Regulation
CALL FOR PAPERS: Changing Professional Cultures Stream
The key theme of this stream is the changing nature of professional
cultures in the criminal justice system in response to structural and
organisational changes. The stream seeks to explore the impact that
developments such as civilianisation, voluntarisation, privatisation and
globalisation have had on professional culture within and across criminal
justice agencies and also to examine mechanisms for the delivery of change.
Proposals for papers, posters and sessions are invited on any relevant
topic, including, for example:
* Influence of higher education on organisational/professional cultures
* Impact of inter-agency working e.g. police/probation, prisons/probation
on development of professional cultures
* Creation of new professional cultures e.g. youth justice
If you would like to discuss whether your paper would be suitable for the
stream you can speak to Jane Creaton, the stream co-ordinator on
