I have lurked here reading for a year or more, and the discussion about care has
pushed me forward.
Care can not be 'reliably repeatable' or regularised entirely because of the
dynamic of not only the interaction, but of the context and knoweldges within
these at each moment of 'care'. I have just completed my Phd looking at the
construction of care within palliative care and although I did not analyse it
using complexity theory, it was very clear that care is itself multidimensional
and dynamic, and that despite attempts at regulation there will always be
difference. Yes there are the linear moments of regularity and
prediction, however, because of the dynamic and complex nature of interaction
between knowledges, contexts, processes and structures of care, there can never
be true replication.
