Dear Colleagues,

We are currently setting up a new Institute for Cognition and Culture
(ICC) at Queen’s University Belfast, due to open in September. Full
details will be posted on the web in the next couple of months. The initial
team will include myself and:

*   Rebekah Richert
*   Jason Slone
*   Paulo Sousa

We anticipate that Ken Livingston and Gwen Broude will be joining us in
2006-7.

We hope very soon to secure further funding to increase the number of
staff and students at the ICC and its range of programmes for invited
speakers. Details will follow over the coming months.

An immediate goal to allocate postgraduate grants available to the ICC.
We currently have dedicated funding for five PhD students and up to ten
Masters students, starting this fall. In addition, a range of postgraduate
studentships can be secured from sources indicated at the following web

Applicants to our doctoral programs from the USA might consider
applying the ORS awards (listed on the above webpage), for which
the closing date is 2 February.

If you know of any bright students who might be interested in working
with us at the new Institute, please let them know about these
opportunities – and especially about the imminent deadline for ORS
awards.
