Hi Janetta,
when I understand the problem well you want to use content in three
different courses, but maintain the content only once.
What you can do is create one "content" course, in which all content is
placed and all students from group 1, 2 and 3 are enrolled in. Then create
a "group"course (start with one course).
Now it's possible to create a link from the "group"course to the "content
course".
Open the content course an go tho the desired page in that course. Right
click on that page and select properties. In the window that opens you'll
see the URL of that page. Copy the URL by selecting it and pressing Ctrl+C.
Now get into the group course and go to the page where you want the link to
show up. Select edit view and select Add external link. Type additional
information about that link and paste the previous copied URL into the URL
field.
This way you can create links from the Documents page in the group course
to the document page in the content course.
When you have created all links to the content course you might use this
course as a original for further copying.
From this original you can copy now the three group courses and enroll
each group to the correct course.
Within the group course students only see the students of their group, but
all groups share the same content.
You might consider to disable f.i. email in the content course or
eventually even disable direct access to the course by placing an </a> tag
before the course name (this way the hyperlink to the courses in My courses
is disabled), but make sure to create a personal backdoor for the
instructor to that course, otherwise he can't get to the control panel of
that course either ;-)
It might sound more difficult as it is, but it's a way to share content
between courses without copying the content and having the ability to
change the content only on one place.
