Hi there
You are right the SCAD is to detectn presence rather than absence of
something. I have not come across anything which does allow for this
but would be interested to know of others have.

Subject: curb on a footpath
Hi,
A user of manual wheelchair who is partially blind has asked me if there
are any devices available that would let her know when she is close to
the curb on a footpath. I have seen the SCAD but I think this is more
for obstacles rather than a drop in the path. I would like to here if
anyone has had any experience.
Thanks,
