Dear all,
I am currently compiling a confidentiality agreement to be signed in relation
to access to closed medical records.
Access to the medical records will obviously be approved by the Local Research
Ethics Committee/NHS as with all such records covered by the 100 year closure
period. However, we are now drawing up some additional paperwork to govern how
the research will be anonymised by the researcher as the LREC does not seem to
provide us with explicit guidance in this area. We are hoping that this
form/agreement will be signed after access permission has been gained, in
order to control how the data is used.
If any offices out there are willing to share their existing paperwork and
guidelines on using medical records, I would be very grateful. I am interested
in what kinds of forms/agreements are currently used, and what guidelines are
imposed in practical terms of the records being consulted in the searchroom.
Many thanks,
Charlotte Berry
