* Collections of the Month: 'Wabsters an shewsters'
There is more to Scotland's textile industry than just tweed and tartan!
Cotton, silk, cashmere, and jute, hosiery and rope, have all been major
industries in Scotland along with textile-related movements such as
needlework, arts & crafts, trades unions, and factory reform.
* Latest additions:
Descriptions from the Universities of Dundee, Edinburgh, Leeds, and Warwick,
the University of Wales Bangor, King's College Cambridge, the Bodelian
Library, the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, the Museum of English Rural
Life, and the Scott Polar Research Institute.
These include descriptions of papers of polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton
(1874-1922); Hong Kong pressure groups material; and papers of poet TS Eliot
* The appearance of the Sir Ernest Shackleton collection description on the
Archives Hub coincides with 'Shackleton, the Hidden Collections', a special
exhibition of rarely seen archival material and photographs on display at
the Scott Polar Research Institute Museum, Cambridge from May 6th, 2004
