£20,466 pa inc
This joint project funded by the AHRB involving the University of Surrey Roehampton, the Jerwood Library of the Performing Arts at Trinity College of Music and the Mander & Mitchenson Theatre Collection includes a programme of cataloguing and digitisation based at the Jerwood Library in Greenwich, London.
During the project which started in May 2003, 1,750 collection level descriptions, 6,000 item level descriptions and 2,000 digital images from the Mander & Mitchenson Theatre Collection will be produced and made accessible using the Jerwood Library's Unicorn 'WebCat' online catalogue and 'Hyperion' digital media archive. Relevant records will also be exported using xml into the Backstage and Cecilia resource discovery databases.
As Assistant Archive Cataloguer your principal responsibilities will be item level cataloguing, ensuring that targets and standards are met, and supporting the work of the Archive Cataloguer in the digitisation aspects of the project, including the linking of digitised images to the catalogue records.
Experience of archives cataloguing to ISAD(G) or an equivalent standard using an automated system is essential. Experience of working in theatre or performing arts archives would be advantageous but is not essential. Training on the Unicorn system will be given.
