Project Archivist
We are looking for a Project Archivist to catalogue and conserve five
archive and library collections relating to post-war educational reforms in
England and Germany. The post is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, and
will make available the records of German Education Reconstruction, a
voluntary body concerned with helping German refugee educationists to
prepare for their post-War return; the papers of The Moot, a philosophical
discussion group concerned with post-War social reconstruction within a
Christian framework, and with members including T.S. Eliot, Karl Manheim,
R.H.Tawney and Sir Fred Clarke; and the personal papers of Mimi Hatton and
Arabella Kurdi, two teachers who travelled to Germany in 1946 to teach
service children. A large part of the project will be concerned with
various methods of dissemination, including websites, pamphlets, exhibition
work and presentations.
You will be a qualified archivist, enthusiastic, well-organised and self-
motivated, with excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and
written). Experience with information technology and familiarity with
cataloguing standards, such as ISAD(G) in automated systems are essential.
Salary will be £18,265 pro rata, plus £2,134 London Allowance. Appointment
for 9 months.
